Free Parenting Resources from the Meyer Center at Texas Children’s Hospital

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting families, we love passing along helpful resources when we come across them, and these upcoming programs from the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics and Autism are worth checking out. These workshops and events are free and designed to support caregivers through behavior challenges, positive parenting, and even a well-deserved night off.


Parents' Night Out

Sometimes, a few hours without the kiddos makes all the difference. This free event offers a fun, supervised evening for children while parents take a well-earned break.


📅 Date: November 14, 2025

🕔 Time: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

📍 Location: Central Houston (exact location will be provided upon registration)


Eligibility:

  • Children must be age 12 and under (Siblings welcome!)

  • At least one child must be a current patient at the Meyer Center

  • Children must not have severe aggression


🍽️ Dinner and snacks will be provided.


Intensive Positive Parenting Workshop

This free workshop offers practical tools for managing challenging behaviors in children at home or at school. Topics include potty training, sleep routines, and how to encourage positive behavior while building strong connections with your child.


Who it’s for:

Caregivers of children up to 12 years old developmentally.

The Ultimate Playoff: Game Night Social

A social night of gaming, LEGOs, and fun for teens and young adults. Dinner included.


📅 Date: October 24, 2025

🕔 Time: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM


Eligibility: 

  • Ages 13–25 with a developmental diagnosis

  • Able to communicate needs and toilet independently

  • No aggressive/self-injurious behaviors.


Note: This is a drop-off event — parents are encouraged to enjoy their evening off!


All Abilities Parent Support Group

A monthly in-person group for caregivers of children with autism, ADHD, genetic syndromes, or other developmental diagnoses. Connect with others, share strategies, and explore resources.


📅 When: 4th Tuesday of each month

🕔 Time: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
